Blue Marlin
The blue marlin is the largest of the marlin family, known to exceed 2000 lbs. It is cobalt blue on top shading to silvery white on the bottom. Mauritius record is 1430 lbs. Caught all year. Best months, November until April.

Black Marlin
The only marlin that has rigid pectoral fins, which cannot be folded flat against the body. It is black on top shading to silvery white on the bottom. Mauritius record is 752 lbs. Caught all year. Best months, November until April

Yellowfin Tuna
30 - 225 lbs. A very powerful fighting fish usually caught on lures. Young fish grow rapidly, at 1.5 years old they weigh around 7.5 lbs. At 4 years old they weigh approximately 150 lbs. Caught all year. Best months March and April.

Sailfish
30 - 140 lbs. Known to be one of the fastest fish in the sea, reaching speeds of 60 mph +. Usually seen in schools of up to 20 individuals. Caught all year.

Spearfish
20 - 60 lbs. These aggressive fish eagerly attack artificial lures. Normally found in small numbers. Caught all year round.

Dorado
10 - 70 lbs. The most plentiful game fish in the ocean. These fish display fantastic colours. The male has a much larger head than the female. If you can find a floating object that has been in the water for a long time, there can be plenty of these fighters swimming around it. Caught all year.

Wahoo
10 - 120 lbs. The Wahoo is an aggressive predator capable of speeds reaching 50 mph. Its jaws and razor sharp teeth work like scissors. These large and powerful fish are usually loners. Caught all year.

Skipjack Tuna
5 - 45 lbs. One of the strongest fighting fish pound for pound that swims. A 5 lb fish is about 1 year old. A 13 lb fish produces around 600,000 eggs when it spawns. Generally caught in big shoals. Caught all year.

Dog Tooth Tuna
20 - 230 lbs. Found close to the reefs. Mauritius holds the current world record for this species on 50 lb line class. Caught all year.

Mako Shark
Many Mako sharks are caught each year. Mauritius holds the current world record at 1115 lbs. Can be caught all year.

Caught all year, best months August and September. Mauritius record is 693 lbs

Mauritius record is 1218 lbs. Can be caught all year.
